...and served me my very first "special" in the NAAFI bar in Herford thus contributing to current demands on the NHS. I remember Taff well - he was either in the process of ,or had recently married a lovely lady when this tragic event took place. I hope the Army looked after her.

RIP Taff.

I'm sure I still have a picture of Taff Glover somewhere. It's of him leaning against a 3-tonner on exercise in 77/78 (?) when I had to "command" some kind of damage control thing. He was our MT driver.

I can't find it at the moment, but if one day I do, does anyone want it?

John - scan it and send it to Mike - he can put to a gallery.

Dave, I've searched my home high and low and I can't find this photo, unfortunately. I know I had it at one time, but don't know where it is now.

What I did find was a really bizarre photo from 1973/74 inter-squadron athletics photo from Omagh, with the Barraclough thing handing the baton to me in the final leg of a 4 x 400 - yes, Sid Barraclough actually running!

Anyway, we won the race. Not too difficult a task considering the Lahmärsche who were running, but this was before the Frost brothers joined.

Of course, Mr Moody from the REME taught us all a completely different attitude to running, and I don't think any of us were ever in his class. He was brilliant.

However, I would love to take him on at cross-country skiing
