Once again lads I am a bearer of bad news - another one of the lads has gone to the Green Fields our star medic Jack Frost.

His son Calum has just rang me to tell me. He died on the 10th july and was cremated today in Maryhill Glasgow. He had had a fall and had broken ribs and once again our wonderful labour run national health service let him down - couldnt find anything wrong when he went to emergency and they sent him home! he was rushed back in and died in hospital.

Jack often phoned me for a chat, he was an avid supporter of Rangers and always managed to visit friends around this time for the "SASH" marches in N Ireland, a staunch prod who idolised the rev ian Paisley! He was a lonely man and I know he phoned others, he liked a wee dram, just for medicinal purposes he would say.

Will be missed in Scarborough - farewell my old friend and open the medical centre up there for the other lads.

Fear Naught my mate.

Not many of you, by virtue of the various roles fulfilled by the regiment in the tim from Nov 74-Apr/May 76 will be aware of the fact that Jack Frost was a role model for David Beckham.

Nobody will deny the derisive comments in Polymedhia when he walked into the Cookhouse and later the NAAFI Bar in his Sarong. 2 Yards of VFM Cypriot curtain material wrapped around his waist and he was "the bee's knees"!

It was typical of the man, he said what he thought, he did that which thought was right for himself.

If only more people today had the same courage of their own convictions - especially our politicians and warlords!!

RIP Jack, say hello to Doc Forrester for us all!

I'm now feeling very guilty - he used to ring me on a regular basis (and would talk for an age) when I lived in Burnley - I moved South and "forgot" to tell him - I believe he also called Steve Greaves (his neighbour in Glasgow) on regular occasions.

Thank goodness for this site - we never would know the half of it otherwise!

His dry sense of humour will be missed in Scarborough.

Having spoken to Calum - Jacks son - he is trying to make the Saturday in Scarborough to talk to us all about his dad. He is compiling a small tribute to his dad from his days with the Army, his days with the ambulance service and his Orange Lodge days, please bring any old photos, and most of all memories with you for Calum.......

Calum wants to say a few words as well. Give him the Tankie welcome he deserves and welcome him into our midst.

You can recall events and memories on here and Calum will pick them up.

Thanks lads - I know its a long time since Jack left but did deep in the gray matter in respect of his memory and to help his son with the momento of his life.
